Apple has released the new MacBook 12″ with retina display
following refreshed  MacBook Airs and MacBook Pros

“With the new MacBook, we set out to do the impossible: engineer a full-sized experience into the lightest and most compact Mac notebook ever. That meant re-imagining every element to make it not only lighter and thinner but also better. The result is more than just a new notebook. It’s the future of the notebook. ”

We believe that a comfortable, full-sized keyboard is essential for a great notebook experience. But to fit one into the elegantly thin new MacBook, we had to completely rethink how a keyboard is engineered and constructed. To create the new keyboard, we redesigned each key and its underlying mechanism — not only making the whole keyboard much thinner, but also allowing for more comfortable, precise and responsive typing that just feels right.

The moment you open the new MacBook, its gorgeous 12-inch Retina display with edge-to-edge glass brings everything into focus. Every photo leaps off the screen in rich, vibrant detail. Over 3 million pixels render each letter with crystal clarity. And it all comes to light on the thinnest, most energy-efficient Retina display ever on a Mac, meticulously honed to deliver a bold visual experience within an impossibly minimal design.

This is the first MacBook to feature a single USB C port and does not have the illuminated Apple Logo on the lid. Adapters will  needed to connect to USB3, Firewire, Thunderbolt, Ethernet, HDMI and VGA

In addition to interviews with the press, Apple is celebrating 30 years of Mac with a full-bleed graphic on its homepage, which links to a minisite that plots how the Mac evolved over the years. The message says that Apple made the Macintosh with a promise to get “the power of technology .. in the hand of everyone”. “This promise has been kept.”, it reads. The dedicated minisite depicts a (scrollable) timeline of the major models of Mac since 1984, spanning the PowerBook, the iMac and ending with the Retina MacBook Pro and the brand new Mac Pro.

On the 2nd May 2013, The Hervey Bay Mac Users Group celebrated it’s 5th anniversary after inception in 2008. A very interesting meeting was held featuring a superb presentation by Darren, who showed us all how he manages his family’s multiple Macs, iPads, iPhones and iPods at home. At the interval, a birthday cake was enjoyed by those members present.

HBMUG celebrated it’s 4th Anniversary on Thursday 3rd May 2012. the Group was formed by myself, Darren and Ben in my house, May 2008. We moved to the RSL in September 2008 when all the members could no longer fit into my lounge room. It has proved an excellent and popular venue.
