The Hervey Bay Mac Users Group is not affiliated to or associated with any commercial computer business.

The next meting will be held on Thursday 1st April 2010 at 7 pm at the Hervey Bay RSL Club Pialba.

Have a look at our proposed schedule of topics to see what our main theme will be. Other problems will be discussed in Q & A after the main topic. Members can request changes to the schedule if they have special needs.

You are encouraged to bring your laptop Mac, pencil and paper and a Memory Stick for possible sharing of Freeware Software programs.

Apple Introduces the iPad

New Macs Announced 21st October 2009

Snow Leopard Released early

Snow Leopard, Mac OS 10.6 has been released early on August 28th. Many members have received their copy and have already installed it. So far I have heard of no reported major problems. See also http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20090828112540695 However, as it is an “under the hood” upgrade, don’t expect any great change in appearance. Members are reporting subtle changes and QuickTime 10 has some nice new recording of actions features. For those wanting to continue running PPC Applications like AppleWorks and Quicken, I am glad to report that Rosetta is an optional Install. We should have quite a base of experience by the next meeting in September.

Panel of Experts

We have constructed a Panel of Experts to help members with more advanced assistance for specialised Applications which we cannot cover in detail in our meetings. This list has been emailed to members in the. So far we have several members who have offered to be on this panel. Members will be able to get individual guidance from these experts.

1st Anniversary Meeting 7th May 2009

Twenty four members attended our 1st Anniversary meeting and were treated to a superb presentation and demonstration of iMovie 06 by Josef. An Apple video about iMovie 09 was also shown. Richard Neville informed us of his new Apple Authorised Reseller business in Main Street. Attractive prices will be offered to members. We were presented with a chocolate 1st Birthday cake from a mystery “lady” who left it at reception.
